Everybody assumed that Marian Rivman would grow out of her high school fascination with the Peace Corps. She did not. But her early experiences in the Peace Corps left a lot to be desired. Dangerous areas, bats, rats, and snakes, and even a dead body in her living room, were enough for her to question what she had gotten herself into. Enter the Diaz family. And Marian Rivman's life would never be the same.

Marian Rivman is the founder of Marian Rivman Communications Consultants, a media management firm. She worked to craft media strategies and messaging for a wide variety of clientele, ranging from the United Nations (UN) to the U.S. Scuba Diving industry to numerous well-known individuals, including performers, scientists, and authors.

Marian started as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. Later, she was a consultant to the secretariats of two historic UN conferences: the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and the 1995 UN 4th World Conference on Women, in Beijing. She was a special advisor on women's issues at the UN's Women 2000. She was also involved at the 2002 UN special session on children. She was instrumental in creating the Global 500 Environment Award for the UN Environment Programme. Long before the proliferation of bloggers, she wrote a 25-part travel journal for MSNBC Online, reaching four million readers with her account of her trip around the world.

Her Peace Corps video, Tita Marian: Peace Corps Volunteer, can be seen HERE.
